Biocoat® for CIRCULAIRSTAAL®!
Together with our partners, we have succeeded in developing a new generation of sustainable steel preservation. BIOCOAT® is the most CO2-efficient coating on the current steel market.
BIOCOAT® is the most environmentally friendly form of steel coating on the market today. This sustainable coating is a replacement alternative to the environmentally harmful wet painting of structures in indoor situations. The coating is low in CO2 and has a low MKI score. BIOCOAT® is therefore fully in line with our company's circular objectives!
Higher quality and longer service life
The BIOCOAT® coating is user-friendly, provides full coverage and is suitable for steel structures in indoor situations where the humidity is no more than 40% (load classes C1 and C2). The coating is also suitable as a primer for a 2-layer preservation system for higher load classes.
BIOCOAT® improves the quality and service life of a steel structure compared to an untreated structure or a steel structure that has been treated with linseed oil. The coating has a protective function during the construction phase, use phase and dismantling phase.
BIOCOAT® is environmentally friendly because it is applied to steel beams with less raw material consumption, energy, transport and waste. In addition, we also have two bio-based variants in our range!

Application of BIOCOAT® preservation
BIOCOAT® preservation is suitable for indoor situations with a maximum humidity of 40% and falls within corrosion classes C1 and C2 (in accordance with current classifications).
Range & preconditions
- Indoors, C1: heated rooms with a clean indoor climate and minimal pollution.
Examples: distribution centres, offices, shops, schools, hotels. - Indoors, C2: unheated or variably conditioned rooms where condensation may occasionally occur.
Examples: warehouses, sports halls.
Important points to note
- Do not use in the presence of aggressive vapours/chemicals or outdoors.
- Ensure a design without stagnant moisture zones (avoid cold bridges) and provide adequate ventilation.
- Follow the project-specific processing instructions (substrate condition dry/clean, correct layer structure and curing) for optimum durability.
