Demountable construction with connectors

Demountable construction is a core element of the Circulairstaal® approach. We design steel structures according to the principles of Design for Disassembly (DfD): a design philosophy in which buildings are prepared from the very first concept for disassembly, adaptation, and reuse.

Instead of permanent and irreversible welded connections, Circulairstaal® applies dry, demountable connections and smart connector solutions wherever possible. This allows steel components to be removed without damage and reused—either within the same building or in a new application.

 
 

What does Design for Disassembly mean at Circulairstaal®?

Design for Disassembly means that a steel structure is not designed as an end point, but as a temporary configuration of valuable components. At Circulairstaal®, we translate this principle into buildable and structurally reliable solutions.

This includes, among other things, that:

  • structures are composed of recognizable, independent components

  • dimensions and detailing support reuse
